The Occupational Therapy Job
Roles & Responsibilities
As a Plena OT, you’ll work across diverse settings – from private residences and retirement villages to disability group homes and residential aged care facilities. Support clients of all ages, with a focus on older adults, helping them achieve meaningful goals.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct functional assessments and develop individualised care plans
- Support clients with musculoskeletal, neurological, balance, behavioural, and cardiopulmonary needs
- Implement home modifi cations and prescribe equipment or assistive technology (AT)
- Work across private residences, retirement villages, disability group homes, and residential aged care
- Navigate funding options: private, home care packages/Support at Home, CHSP, CDM, Short Term Restorative Care, Lifetime Care and Support

As a Plena OT you have the chance to work across a wide range of exciting healthcare areas. We service clients in their homes, or visit their residential aged care facility, we also provide workplace health and safety to residential aged care and community settings. This variety offers incredible opportunities, but it also means that specialised knowledge and training are needed to thrive in each area.
At Plena Healthcare, we understand that for many OTs—especially new grads—entering the community sector can feel challenging due to the unique skillset required. We’ve recognised that this gap in knowledge and experience isn’t always addressed in formal studies or non-community roles.
