Allied Health Graduate Program: Your first year at Plena Healthcare

Starting your career is a big step, and at Plena, we make sure you never take it alone. Our dedicated graduate development program designed to guide you from university graduate to capable, confident, and well‑rounded clinician.

Across a structured 12‑month development journey, you’ll build the foundations that set you up for long‑term success, with support every step of the way.

The clinical side of your New Grad Journey

You’ll be supported from day one with a structured blend of clinical experience, learning and mentoring designed for new graduates. Here’s what to expect:

  • Build confidence with targeted training in dementia care, clinical documentation and person-centred care.
  • Develop practical clinical skills across aged care and community settings.
  • Connect with Plena’s multidisciplinary team – physiotherapists, OTs, podiatrists, dietitians and speech pathologists
  • Ongoing clinical support and mentioning from experienced clinicians and leaders.
  • As an OT you will be part of our innovative Plena Care Pathway

Beyond the clinical with professional coaching

Alongside your clinical development, you’ll take part in a structured coaching program designed specifically for early‑career clinicians.

It brings graduates together in a supportive virtual space to learn, share and grow, helping you build the professional skills that make your transition into practice smoother and more confident.

Co‑delivered with TalkTactics Leadership and Coaching, the program draws on real‑world insight into the clinical, professional and personal challenges faced by new allied health clinicians.

By the end of our Graduate Program, you’ll be equipped with both the clinical capability and the high-value soft skills that truly elevate your career.

Considering a career in allied health within aged care?

First of all, well done, you have made an excellent career choice. As our population ages, the skills and expertise of allied health professionals are needed more than ever. There are few areas of healthcare where you can have such a meaningful impact on a person’s quality of life. My advice is going to be a little long… Working in aged care is a privilege. You are invited into the lives of older people during the final chapter of their journey, and with that comes the opportunity to make a real difference. Sometimes that difference is helping someone regain the confidence to walk again, supporting them to remain independent, reducing pain, or simply enabling them to continue doing the things that matter most to them. Other times, it is providing comfort and reassurance when cure is no longer the goal.
The work can be challenging, but it is also deeply rewarding. Older adults have incredible stories, wisdom and resilience, and there is much to learn from them. If you approach the profession with compassion, curiosity and a willingness to build relationships, you will find that aged care offers not only the chance to improve lives, but also the opportunity to grow as a clinician and as a person. At the end of the day, we all hope to age with dignity and purpose. Being part of the team whether it is with Plena or another provider that helps make that possible for others is something truly special.
